is anyone else as irritated at these people as I am? Here folks like us take the time to join a sponsoring organization like IMPBA, AMA, secure permission to run our R/C vehicles at sites, and pay for insurance at those sites. Then these dudebros see a stupid $40 quadcopter at Target, think "LOL I can sky pictars!" and give the rest of us a bad name.

I agree! Was at a national drag boat race event that got postponed for 30 min due to some ******* flying over the track! USE YOUR DAMN HEAD PEOPLE!

We have only yet begun with the stupidity that will follow. Sad really, could hurt us all in the long run.

They need to do something about these things we have to play on sanctioned lakes same with rc airplanes why is it they can go any where and cause problems

going to get MUCH worse..
When Amazon starts delivering packages with drones !!!!!

we will see a large catastrophic event with one at some point in the future. I suspect we will see a large airliner downed and maybe one used to deliver chemical weapons or a pressure cooker bomb..

The real danger is one can set waypoints and let her go.. she fly's to the stadium and delivers her weapon. The pilot never touches a radio. He just turns it on.

BOOM!

My buddy SOLD HIS HOBBY STORE because of the ******* that were coming in looking for "Drones".. he sighted he did not to be part of that news story. He said it was getting real bad.

O well.. we will ALL suffer the fate of that garbage.

Yup, Z totally gets it............... when it goes it will go bad, VERY bad.

I get guys coming into the store to check out the drones. Not to many have a clue about them. They see these things on the news and think they are cool which they are. Like Mike said, you can set the gps and they will fly themselves. You never know their intensions. It's just a matter of time.

Yep. Grim, I know you see all of the traffic over on the Heli Forums. Man...we're getting shelled. Lumped in with all of these "all you need is a credit-card" bunch. It's killing us.

As technology and humankind advance, the "bar to enter" has gradually lowered over time. You'll see this with anything. Technology (knowledge) is great...but we're at the point now in regards to R/C flying-things, that we've really outpaced our guidelines. AMA has done a decent job, but Joe D. Umbass has no idea who they are, he just wants a "drone" and has a $5K credit limit. No worries!!!

Y'all are right...the worse has happened. The Federal Government has become involved.

Spot on the mark post Mr. Jones.

The bad part is going to be enforcing the laws once they are in place. So far, only one person has been prosecuted for what can only be called "reckless flying". The only reason he was found is he forced a police chopper to avoid the quad and the chopper was able to lead a squad car to the "operator". There is a thread in another forum with 63 pages about these idiots and the laws being proposed and a second with 8 pages about the laws proposed in California. These guys are very concerned that their right to fly ANY flying model is in serious jeopardy with the laws being proposed and, unfortunately, there is a lot of merit with this concern

What I find most irritating is the ATTITUDE most of these 'drone' jockeys have. They act as though they can fly anywhere, anytime with no consequences to the actions. We had a large company that had their building catch fire a few months ago, and as it stored lumber and paper products, became fully involved very quickly. Some guy decided to take video from his drone, by flying over the fire until he was reminded, not too gently as I understand, that he was flying directly in the flight path of some of our local Air Guard F-15s. He was also well above the 400' limit, so his flights are now limited to his front yard. I see a lot of 'drone footage' on facebook, and a few are constantly reminding these out of control kids that they are flying too high, can't overfly airports, check local 'no fly zone' applications, all to no avail. These peoples actions are going to hurt all RC hobbies if some common sense doesn't kick in.

and then there's the ***** that mounted a loaded 9mm to one and took video as he was firing, think he got caught though.

exactly. these things unfortunately appeal to the lowest common denominator. And the kinds of dudebros the cheap ones appeal to are precisely the types who will mope away muttering "man, this is bull****!" when they're kicked out of places.

there's a video out there of some dudebro flying around firefighters working on an active house fire; eventually one of the firefighters turned the hose on the drone. The owner had the stones to demand the fire department compensate him for the damage.
