Just blew up my second Dremel 4000 this year. Even with the tungsten wheel which goes through carbon fiber like a hot knife through butter it just doesn't seem to like it.

Anybody fix these things?

Anybody make a better rotary tool?

You can send it straight to Dremel and they will either fix or replace it if it's still under warranty or for a minimal cost if not

Mike,

Foredom flex shaft like a real pro.

The jewelers, dentist, and propeller finishers understand quality.

Lots of options with different handpieces for every application.

Only way to go in my opinion. I have and use the bench grinder

And the flex shaft with five different handpieces for different applications

Daily.

Earlier I had similar problems with Dremels. The Black & Decker version is nicer and more durable. I've gone through several over the years, but they outlasted the Dremels at least three to one. Look at the current rating. However, the Foredam flex shaft grinder is definitely the best for serious work.

I'm with Mark, get a Foredom and never have to worry about it again. Also, scour the pawn shops for the old black dremels.

PROXXON GO TO THERE WEB SITE.---DAN
Got the heavy duty model. Seems to be a way nicer piece than the Cremel. No vibration or noise at high RPM's. Had a friend tell me that when he started building with cf he had the same thing happen to him as he went through a Dremel a boat. The carbon dust just kills the brushes and commutator. The solution was to use the flex drive cable to get the tool further away from the work. When I killed the last Dremel I was using it outside to do initial trimming of the part without the shop vac and the dust got in there. I always use a small shop vac to inhale the dust as it comes off the tungsten wheel is-except when I go outside to do it.

Found an online woodworking store called Klingspor that had the best prices on the Proxxon stuff. They also have $7.99 flat rate shipping. They also have a 4 piece miniature diamond file/burr set for $40 bucks that is perfect for deburring new nitro motors.
