looking at the d/d nova 21 motor.. ran the conventional for yrs and kickin around trying one out.

anything you DON"T LIKE. or may be lacking from the previous version style motors

thanks

chris

Try it Chris, you'll like it. The motor lacks nothing compared to the older wrap around motor. So far I've found it every bit as fast. Pulling all the same props with ease. Time to try some more prop for me. I'll let you know after this weekend what the limits are.

Compared to the wrap-around style engines the 21DD is longer and heavier. But I didnt notice any change in the running balance of my rigger when I fitted one. Compared to the 7 ports and 35 Plus engines I was running, with the 21DD I can hit the same speeds easier, it is a much more consistent engine. To be consistent with my 35 Plus I had to run less prop, hence slower.

With my wrap-around engines I didnt run a cowl. With a 21DD some sort of carb cover is needed for racing.

Sorry Chris, wish I had more info for you. Losing our pond has sure put a damper on testing. My engine was gone over by your Dad and so far runs like a champ, although it's barely broken in. I went with an OPS 3280 pipe set at 8" and as always run a 50x69 at 3.4. Engine has no problems with launch and runs strong at full speed. My last hybrid engine ran it's best speeds with an S15 but wouldn't pull it in all weather conditions. Hope to give that a try on Saturday and will report back.

Rodney's DD with carbon SPP really had grunt, and took the 18 series without blinking... I was impressed... I'm going with the cooper S... I would... and I'm going to get, a bearing shield maybe machined for mine.... ( the nut deal doesnt appeal, is all)... very nice they are.... mike

Hi Chris,

The .21DD has a .100 longer rod than the 5 or 7 port do so the rod angle is better for high rpm and the one I have swings a larger prop at higher rpms and it gets there quicker.

Thanks, John

thanks for the info john

much appriciated.

never no pete.. never no.

Hi Chris I can see my compare between NR 21 "Flash" Wrap and NR 21 "DD". I says NR21 DD more RPM " Scream " than Flash weak torque .

Big thank to Glenn Q If you ask any question to Glenn so he will be answer you .

There will be lots of DD's at the nationals in July in Marysville, should be interesting.

The DD NR 21 is the way to go Chris no doubt...I bet you will hear the DD NR 21 go 90+ mph with a rigger this year. JMO They are well worth the investment for a Dead Ringer...they are very strong out of the box. Stay tuned for more info

I just have to comment and give a BIG THANKS to Glenn Quarles for the drive, patience and support in working with Nova Rossi to prod them into releasing improved .21 DD and old style .21s, 45s, and outboards (finally).

Stu Barr has worked tirelessly in working with CMB to up their game with improved motors also.

Both lines were great choices before, now are even better.

And I applaud Al Hobbs with the release of the A/A motors, I've never run them but know they're a good choice, too

Thanks all for keeping this crazy hobby alive.

Kris,

Not sure about that statement. There are some pretty Stout CMB motors out there

also. Don't get me wrong Nova Rossi does a Great Job with their motors, but I think

CMB is starting to listen to some changes and I think you will see some competition

between Italian motors once again. I own many of each by the way.

Just My Opinion,

Thanks,

Mark Sholund
