My skills making motor mounts leave some to be desired. I am willing to pay for a .21 motor mount for a SAW rigger project i'm working on with an inside tub width of 2.5"

criteria:

1) light weight!

2) for a 2.5" wide inside tub width

3) Drilled tapped for a nova rossi/mac engine size

Thanks for any help!

Tom

Hey Tom

No problem. Do you want it rubber mounted or solid? I like designing new stuff, it gets them brain juices flowing.

Mike

let me know price, i can paypal ya right away.

thanks

Tom, Mike-

I was going to suggest using a mount system with grommets thru the tub (i.e.- SG) 1/4" nylon screws & spacers into Delrin rectangle stock tapped for motor & screws. I don't think you'll get any lighter than that........ :D

 Moorehouse is runnin SAW........... Clear the pond and hide behind sumpin solid......Fire in tha Hole!!!!!! :p :D

The mounts I build for the Mutt 2 are $35. How about that for a one off. I do not have a paypal account. I usually do money orders for people I do not know. But in this case a personal check would be fine. I was about to head to the garage for some hardware building time. Give me a day or so.

I was going to use delrin. After looking at it, the only way to make a mount that is light is like the SG mounts. Tom, I need to know how thick your tub wall is?

Mike

1/8" 5 ply is what I believe I will be using. I have not built the boat yet ;)

Here it is. I need to order some rubber grommets. They should be here Tues. or Weds.

Mike

Another. You are looking at the under side of the mounts in both pics FYI.

They are about 25 grams. I can't tell you exact because my scale goes in increments of 5. I got it for free so I ain't complaining.

If you have not built the tub yet why not use 1/8" carbin balsa ply. . this stuff is lighter and stronger then ply or lite ply. Scott

Mike,

Would you mind posting a picture of how you hold the material for these motor mounts when you mill it?

Tom,

Plug in aerospace composites.com in your web browsers search window. ;)

carbon/balsa: 2 ply of unidirectional caarbon fiber skin layed up 0-90deg. and bonded to an end grain balsa core. It is lighter than, but with same stiffnes as Lite-Ply or 5ply birchwood.

Wait untill you see the price.
