Guys,
When I first got into making pistons, I was asked by several customers if I had honing capabilities. At the time, I didn't have the means or expertise of reworking sleeves, so I declined. Due to necessity, this has changed.
I have developed an arbor that hold modified Sunnen honing stones, specifically CorkBond. With these arbors, I have been working on some of my own sleeves and several customers' sleeves and have gotten to where I am satisfied with the results and comfortable offering this as a service. I can CorkBond a new sleeve before breaking in the piston (easiest and most recommended), or I can replace the CorkBond stone with a silicon carbide stone and re-dress the sleeve, removing the wear pattern the piston created at TDC, then CorkBond it. In either case, the cylinder taper will not be affected, due to the design of the arbors. The downside of this is that I cannot correct any out-of-round condition (sorry). For this, I would need an actual hone, which I don't have (yet).
The results are astounding. What looks to be a cylinder sleeve in relatively good condition turns into a virtually new sleeve, only better. The mirror finish on the chrome will induce less drag and wear on the piston, increasing performance and piston longevity. This was one of the "secrets" that Marty Davis, John Ackerman, Norris Sparks (etc, etc...) held closest, and they lived by it.

I don't have a "complete" set of arbors yet, but I'm finishing one every couple days (as time allows), on a "need it now" basis for in-process customers. I hope to have what I consider a "complete" set of arbors within a couple weeks, again, as needed.
Cost will be $25. I may consider a QTY break for multiples of like engines.
Any takers?

Thanks. Brad.
