Im running a SS1 in my Campbell roundnose on 12 cells i put a drop a machine oil on front bearing and rear bushing every third run. Is there any other maintance required on these motors ? I rember years ago running 05 car motors trueing commutators after 8 heats flushing with brake cleaner re-oiling bearings and replacing brushes and springs. Any info would be appreciated.

Provided the motor never runs too hot, that should be all the maintenance you'll need to do. I actually rarely oil the front bearing, but the rear bush gets oiled about every 3 - 4 runs.

Some people might do more, but I never touch the comm, and my boats are very competitive in our club.

Legally you cannot turn the comm, since the motor is no longer as delivered - you'd have to remove the endbell to do it. Most SS-1 motors will last a long time if they don't get wet and rusty, and if they receive good maintenance. The current LSH record holder had a two-year-old motor in it when it set the SAW record.
