Here is an old can of worms.

After the race we ran in Evansville i checked my new 2004 cmb cam45 cause it started to burn the plug after a run.

Found all the needles wearing to the point it looked like one was missing.

the od for new needles is .058 x .266 long.

the worn needles were .052 x .293 long.

the rod needle race is only .270 thick

Appears the needles were soft and as they wore down they got longer also, this was putting pressure on the drum and making the rod bottom end hot.

This is the same old problem that has plauged the cmb 45 this year sont you think?

Ill replace them with a new used set that had been run but show no wear.

I have a new set but how do you tell if they are hard enough to trust?

I assume Mac needles are the same size.

What you motor guys think?

This motor was modded by Steve Petersen so it was setup correctly.
