What is the best head squish for the CMB 101 in a SD3 mono on 60% nitro?

Mine is set at 20 thou - is that too much?

Thanks

Olly

Olly, I run mine at .015" with the exact same set-up. I found that too much clearance just caused me to lean the motor out to trying to get some RPM which leads to crazy detonation.

Olly,

We have a pretty STOUT PROPELLER modification for that set up.

Ask Joe Warren how his runs?

Good Luck,

Mark,

Were you looking at the back end of Joe's boat in Evansville? :D

I think the reduced X-470 B/C may be even better with a little more

C.O.B. pitch in it though. I am going to send one to Charles S. to

test it out on his set up.

Thanks,

Mark Sholund

I had sold my SD3 mono w/ CMB1.0 so I learned new thing from Jerry Crowther about better set .018" for 50% nitro and set up 12.25" on pipe and use X465 little back cup great stable run and quick corner ;) If you want to more speed X665 Good Luck!

Thanks for the replies. I set the deck height to 16 thou and its going a lot faster now. I think I can keep up with FE monos now. :)

Can I go any shorter than 12 in on the pipe?

You can go shorter. Do it about 1/4" at a time until the performance becomes testy (falling off the pipe, etc.) but doubt you will be able to get much inside of 11.5" and still get the reliability you need. Testing is the only way to find out. A shorter length generally means a slightly richer needle. Remember, monos need a longer length than a hydro as you are pushing much more boat in the water and need the torque from a longer pipe.

No I have and still have it on the back of mine. Only ran it for one heat. My prop got hurt in Atlanta and have not been able to get a new one. Have now got my boat set up out of place from running the repaired prop from Altanta. Will have to work on the boat for this new prop but it looks good.

Mark Sholund Has a TRICK X467 prop for the seaducer 44 with RS101. Big chuck started that Paticular X467 prop. I bent on it a little more then sent it to Sholund to Spec the prop to duplicate it. Will return to Evansville Fall race to test some new X467`s in another new F mono.
