Class Order for Racing

We are starting a new club and want to come up with a class order that makes sense.

I want to know if most clubs still run in order of engine size (20,40,60, etc.) or mix it up for any reason.

20 stock tunnel

20 mod tunnel

40 tunnel

20 mono

40 mono

60 mono

Etc.

Also do any clubs decide the class order based on entries for that race?

Since we are starting this club from scratch, we can do it the best way from the start.

Any input or ideas would be helpful.

Most run the smaller clases first as the water is usually better but the sun does suck in some areas early in the AM . Best for the slowest classes I guess .
 
Joe if you look around @ http://rcracingevents.com/ - most are laid out in the order they run- like Tom said, some lakes - depending on sun exposure in the am make sight line very tough. Dont forget to mix in the gas classes (if you run them as well ) Just food for thought, but slower classes make more sense in that situation, lots of variables. B)

Best thing is have your small tunnels run along with the 20 monos run, then from there mix it up Robert
 
Keep the input coming.

How about this: What would be the ideal order for classes to run, everything considered?

Smaller/lighter boats in the AM, etc...

Joe I think Robert is spot on in his statement, even though he dont know why- lol . :p Kidding Robert.....

Imho - a few smaller more manageable- smooth heats- set the tone for the day ;)

Might want to consider discussing your running order at your drivers meeting, so you can accommodate drivers racing multiple classes to minimize racing in back to back heats.
 
I remember back in the day when it was all nitro we would run 20 mono, tunnel, hydro, 40 mono, tunnel, hydro, 67 mono, tunnel, hydro etc. Then I took over ten years off from racing and when I came back I was surprised that there seemed to be no rhyme nor reason to the order. I was told it was due to gas\electric boats which makes sense. If the club runs three types of gas hulls and I have all three I would have to run back to back to back if they did it the old way so they need to be mixed in. I would recommend whatever you choose, be consistent with it. Keep it the same every race. Eventually people will remember the order and things will move along faster.

In District 8, I don't think P Limited Tunnel and P Limited Hydro run one after another. Seems like there are a couple of nitro classes separating the FE classes.

40 Hydro, 40 Mono, 40 Mod Tunnel, and Sport 60 often do not have sufficient entries to qualify.

Main thing is watch for back to back to make it easier on the driver try to make like all the 40 boats together then maybe mix in gas then the 60 boats then do the same thing Robert
 
FE guys need time to tape up so I would try to avoid racing them back to back which could cause delays. If possible, also take the sun in consideration for faster classes, crowded heats and the offshore course. I've seen some wicked glare at different sites late in the afternoon and early morning.
 
Take a look at what style boats people coming to race have. Sometimes if there is a group of people that like to run tunnels only, throw a hydro class in between to let people breathe a little. This is especially helpful for small races. Large races, there is usually plenty of time unless you have a back to back heat.
 
You may want to look at what the people in your club are running and space it out as best as you can , that way your club members can race and help were ever needed.

We will look at what the most popular classes are around here, factor in any common back to back entries, sun position and normal weather.

Maybe set up the order by hull first, then mix as needed.

This is based on what local racers are running (to minimize back to back heats) and we kind of separated the nitro and gas as most run locals one or the other.
