I just bought 2 29.5cc Zanoahs and they came with 1048 carbs. I measured the bores on the carbs and learned they are .532 diameter on the front and .625 on the engine side.

My question is, are those the correct bore diameters to get maximum performance from these carbs on these engines?

Steve,

Pretty much what they like anything more will start to be a give and take. If you can make it flow more without increasing these sizes you will get more gain without the losses.

Going larger may give more top end at the cost of some bottom end and midrange and general drivability.

One of my 1048 "toilet bowl" full mod carbs.

That carb looks like it has a Ron Buck stainless steel butterfly bar.

The 1048 is a great carb, the 257 has it's place, but the overall carb even stock will put a 257 in its place!
