no,. you cannot run a .15 in a "a" hydro race.. Unless of course all the people there agree it's ok,.. but it's against the rule. For the .21 races, you can run anything, as long as it's not over a .21,,...

Odd the way they have done that, you'd think anything under a .21 would be an A.

Not odd at all. There will always be a displacement range and the fastest engines will always be at the top of that range.

Our local Elmira club allows side exhaust .15 engines in the A class for local races.

I still think that it should be 0-21 for the A class, or any small block, none of them will out heat race a 21.

I have heard of Gary Preusse running his .12 Hawk in the .21 hydro class and winning with it. At most club races i would say yes they will allow a .15 size engine to run with the .12's. If you where to be running for records or at a national event like a Internats you would not be allowed to run a .15

bring the boat to the race and you should be allowed to run it .... it will be a driver meeting decision and most wont care.

I will have a .12 at mendota, and all the people i know who run .12 boats wouldnt mind as far as I can tell.

It wont be verey fast about 40 or so, but as long as i bring it back un thats all that matters to me, i will bring it anyways and see wht happens

Thanks james

According to the IMPBA, the limit is .129" which was raised around 2000 up from .119". Although many of the .12's are faster than .15's, .16's and .18's they're just another oddball size as far as boat racing goes. Ask first to see if they'll allow you to run if nobody objects.

Paul, I've seen Gary's boat run well into the 70's at the Flint record trials which puts him right up there with the .21's. Most races will allow you to move up a class. I don't know which .12 'rigger that you're running now but that one you brought to Flint was fast!

The "A" 'rigger class is going to be really interesting this year in Hobart as Gary has entered his. I finally got mine done and will be hitting the water today or tomorrow so that one should be there also. Last year David Preusse easily took the win as his was one of the few who made it past the launch. This year is going to be tougher.

We already went through that with the RTR class. First they had .15's, then to one-up the other they went to .18's. That got to be a 2 manufacturer war and now down to just one. When those run out then that class won't last long.

There are plenty of options for the .12 class as that's why the class went from .119 to.129 cu. In. as the .11's were dying off. The body isn't going to propose a rule then put it to a vote because just a few built .15's, .16's or .18's to keep them happy. Right now most district races can't get enough people to sign up for the current "A" class.
