Looks like we will have a complete new series of Brushless Motors to join the debate. Should be interesting to watch this develope. ;)

It is my understanding that you really have to phone Chris (I'm not indicating any judgement here, merely stating the facts as I understand them) to get his attention or do any business.

I take it you mean the new rrh brushless motors? More ways to spend our money. I still need a brushless control, the motors are fine.

Your saying that all brushless controllers for boats are bad?

Or what exactly?

I'm saying they just dont last that well in wet conditions. The car guys I know are loving them. But they send very little time it the water. I'm not the only one complaining about the same problems either. If your competing I say go brushless, for backyard banging and fun go with the brushed can motor.

We haven't had any complaints about ours getting wet as of yet - there's even a rumor of one running submersed in a bucket of water.

We use a silicon sealer before they're shrink wrapped - fairly watertight when it's all done.

Shawn,

Welcome to the board!

It's the "fairly" i am worried about. Running these in boats, they are assured to get dunked. Smoking a $175 contoller isn't the best of thoughts.

I am comfortable with Andy Kunz's (RC-Hydros) "bulletproof" brushed controllers, but I want the speed and lack of maintance that comes from the brushless motors. Therefore the need for a "waterproof" brushless controller. Andy's brushed controllers can run all day (or at least until the batteries dump) submerged, so that is the benchmark.

Not a bash, just some info.

All the best.

Sean,

at nats mine was submerged for about 5 minutes while plugged in (my team mate and I tangled). No problems.

It's nice not to have to worry about that! Still, I hope I never have to test it again, but.....

I haven't tried the Castle Brushless controllers yet, but I do have a few of the brushed controllers and I did dump one in a bucket of water with the motor running for probably 5 minutes with no problems. If their water proofing is the same on the BL controllers as the brushed, we may have our first truly water proof BL controller! :D

My only complaint on the brushed controller was the amp rating, it seemed fairly libral (Griffin 55)

Again on the upside, Castle has excellent, fast customer service and I love the size!

Do you offer a high current controller that would operate on 4 cells?

thanks

Steve

How high current, and BL or brushed?

The Phx 25 will do 4 cells if you set the LVC to 4v and set for soft cutoff (W/good cells) if you're going BL

BTW - who's rrh or whoever the new BL company? anyone got a link?

I'm reasonably sure that the Bl motor mfg. of the new RRH BL motor line is:http://www.electronicmodel.com/

I'm using Castle's now, but have never had trouble with Hackers either, or any brushless controller for that matter.

I should correct that, I will be using Castle's as of this coming Saturday. This first two are installed and ready to roll.

I like Castle's because they don't have to be cooled.

Support is heads and shoulders above any other manufacturer as well.
