I agree with Scott, and that's why I added that last one about the local guy. I do my own mods and also do a few for others at the home pond. Not taking anything away from the pro's - they do excellent work and have helped make the sport what it is - but when I can save that much money and still make a good showing, I have to do it.
If you are only doing a few things to the 260, I would recommend:
(1) Reduce piston diameter near the top as outlined in Scott's post to prevent seizure (until such time as Zenoah gives us the redesigned piston).
(2) W-cut the sides of the piston to improve flow from the crankase to the transfer passages.
(3) Raise exhaust timing to about 175 degrees. No degree wheel? That's "about" 1.5mm or .060" Don't forget to rechamfer the top of the opening.
The other things are good too, but to get in the running without too much risk of a boo-boo, those are where to start.
