Hi all-

I am brand new to the forum and to RC Boats. I have raced cars in the past and have also owned electric boats in the past. I am going to purchase a new Nitro Boat. Here are what I was thinking:

1. Aeromarine Laminates Mean Machine

http://www.aeromarinerc.com/

2. Proboat Thunder 31

http://h1071118.hobbyshopnow.com/products/...sp?prod=PRB2750

3. Proboat Shockwave 36

4. Some other boat in the same price range

I will using the boat in an area with some wind / light chop. So which one does everyone suggest or an alternative? Which one is most upgradeable for the future? Are the hulls that different? Does one have a better radio system than the other?

Thanks for the help. I apologize if this question has been answered in the past, but I searched the forum for these boats and didn't find much against one another.

I would lean toward the Aeromarine boat. I have seen a few of the Proboat products run and was not impressed at all. Aeromarine sells quality hulls. Not sure if that Meanmachine boat is actually available though.

I have friends that have the shockwave, it is a very good buy we have got 37 to 40 mph out of them with not muck work. today we are going to the lake and there should be a thunder cat 31 out there I will let you know how it runs but i have see them at our local hobby shop and i dont think you will find a better buy. the new Miss Elam hydro that aquacraft is coming out with would be another boat i would consider in the rtr boats, it wont be a choppy water boat where the shockwave and the cat will handle better.

Anything that ProBoat has come out with has had issues with it from fuel tank leaks to flex cables breaking as soon as the engines were fired up for the first time. If someone wants to spend some time with them correcting the mistakes they could have a much better boat. I keep hoping that every time that ProBaot comes out with a new one that they finally got their act together. Nope, it doesn't happen.

The Mean Machine 18. If it was anything like the pre-production boats that I've had my hands on they may show the others what qualtiy is for RTR boats. The hardware is first-rate and comes with a radio box that doesn't leak! I'd like to see what the final boat looks like before making any serious thoughts on it. It looks like Aeromarine isn't going to be at the Toledo show this year according to the Toledo Show site.
