Battery location and mounting in Matrix ultimate

Upon installing my 12 cell sub c batt pack to achieve proper c of g in my Matrix ultimate i noticed all cells had to be pushed into the nose of the tub under the front deck over top of the rear sponson boom .There is nothing written in the instruction manual about the battery instalation . I was thinking of using a 3''x3''x 1/2'' thick balsa block with 1/32'' birch ply glued to the top for extra strength for velcro to hold the packs above the rear boom and glue the balsa block to bottom of the tub forward off the rear sponson boom may be those who have built this hull could kindly help me out .
