Well. I saw on our stats log we were at 9.7 megs not 10 so i sent a message to our host and asked them to turn us back on till we reached our limit. i'm not home to see what their reply was but i see were back up so I'm guessing they responded?

i deleted (temporarily) a ton of the most recent pictures to possibly allow us to survive 1 1/2 day with .3 gig transfer.....

so hey man.... no surfing..... get your fix and get out! :D

Boy, it must have pissed off Marty and Brian when everybody headed over there last night wondering why this site was down! :D

Some of the pix that have been posted lately have been way too big, especially when you have dial-up. Those eat up a lot of bytes.

Tom , got a ?

Bandwith , aint this uploading and downloading mainly ? or , are we taking to much of your space off by putting the pics on here ?

Just asking ,

Bart

Bandwidth is the total amount uploaded and downloaded from/to the server. Everytime you view a page it consumes bandwidth. Everytime you upload a pic it consumes bandwidth. The total size of the pictures on the server is not related, nor are PM's. The movement of the pictures/graphics/text from the server to you is bandwidth. Personally I think their measurement method is inaccurate, and I told them that. A 1200 member forum should never consume anywhere near that much. Here is a bandwidth graph for us:

I don't see why our usage would have skyrocketed like the graph shows.

If anything it was the large pictures uploaded. If that is indeed the case we can try to image host with Mike P's server to save bandwidth..... but like I said i'm not convinced on their measurement.

To upgrade to the next level would cost us more than double what we paid already, and like I said...... there is no way we should exceed 10 gigabytes of transfer!

Tom,

Would it help if we deleated all of our pictures on the show us your boats post?

Just asking because I think most of us have seen them by now.

Don

Obviously I don't know a thing about these puters!

Bandwith has nothing to do with the pics standing here i think, its the uploading of the pics that matters .

We've been uploading ( me included ) a lot of pictures lately , thats what u can see on the graphics too .= lots of people are looking at those pics too wich means more uploading .

Its like that site where u could dl that movie of Joerg , after a few days /weeks u couldn't dl it cause the bandwith went to far .

regards ,

Bart

If you host pics off site and only link to them it should save a ton of bandwidth.
