Hey guys..

putting together a BanditBoats stilleto? (not 100% on the name)

would like to set it up surface drive, but not sure what the original instructions said about setup....

anyone out there have the instruction booklet for this boat?

what considerations are there in deciding whether surface drive works on a mono? how can i tell whether to set it up surface or subsurface?

any help would be greatly appreciated....

Len

just measured the v...its 45 degrees...

does that mean its gonna pound water? does that affect driveline decision of surface or subsurface?

Sweet looking boat,.. There are a few factors that influence sub or surface drive. 45deg included angle? I think that sounds like a decent rough water boat..

ok Anthony...

what are those factors influencing sub or surface drive?

...just trying to set this boat up so we have a class here in District 9 (only 2 boats at the moment, this will be the 3rd boat so we can race)

Len, I've only had 2 and both were surface drive- Thought sub surface went out of style with wing tip shoes. I have a extra fin and some .135" carbon angle- if you need it I will mail it to you.

Hey Glenn

Go over to Lens house and use his weights. I will build the next boat much lighter!

:DI'm a Wimp-could not throw it hard enough to keep it on plane for 6 laps

thx glenn...i will set it up surface drive fer sure based on this conversation...

you going to be at the race? im bringing the mono out to bounce setup ideas offa Chris Davis...maybe you can take a look at it as well...

hope to see both of you out there (jimmy and glenng)

Im sorry I don't know the details of the difference in hull design.. I bet someone here does though.. unless someone has real experience and bad results with that hull and surface drive, I would go surface drive..

Lenn, Just checked the bottom angle on my Speedmaster and it is a 50 degree included angle(or 25 degrees for each side) And it did not pound the water- it was more of a scream & dunk

. I do not have the Seaducer any more as I was told in 2011 that D-19 would not be running that class in 2012- so like a dummy I sold it with a good Rs. I do know a guy in Colfax that has a Rs in his stash. I think there were 7 boats in B-Mono at the first race at Minden.

jim..this is a 40.5" mono by banditboats...i lost the instruction booklet, but i assumed it was a 45 boat based on the size
