I recieved my atlas hull from RumRunner. (not sure why)

There are no pictures, plans or illistrations of any type with the kit.

Only written instructions. I have never built a sport hydro before.

Anyone have some pics of this hull during construction?

Suggestions,... help?

Wow.... i could release like 100 kits if thats all i did <_< I work real hard on my building instructions.

I know you do Tom. I guess you've spoiled me. I'm not saying the written instructions are bad. I just don't particulary know what the heck they're talking about! The bottom of this boat has a tub in it or something unusual.

I don't even know why they sent it to me at this point.

I only ordered it 5-6 weeks ago....

If you don't mind ABS, and don't mind a little bit different style, try one of these: http://classichydros.com/

You can get them at Fine Design or Climate Boatworks.

I've owned 20-25 boat kits of all types and Doug Campbell has put together one of the best total kit packages I've ever seen. Thorough, clearly written and illustrated, in general very well laid out.

Disclaimer: I know Doug, but I was not compensated for saying this. And don't get confused by my signature line. We share the same first name. :p :p

Sorry dude.. man..

In this day and age you would think with all the PC power we have and the ability fo take .jpgs and the like that you would get a good manual...

Sounds like Dumas has a better deal going.. Hehehe

My dear departed mother always taught me, that, if you couldn't say anything nice about somebody (something), don't say anything at all.

Hey Mike

My comment wasn't made in reference to anything anyone else said. It was more a matter of MY "thinking out loud". :)

I really just want to have some confidence that I'm building the boat correctly. As it is I have to modify the boat for nitro. Any help would STILL be much appreciated.

Anthony,

I am familier with that kit. If you would like some help drop me a PM.

The kit was designed for FE not nitro but that is not to say it can not

be done. It is a old design from the 80"s but a good one.

I too have the Atlas kit and was a bit worried about the build due to lack of photos.

I asked for help on the RRR board and was directed to a nice site with construction photos of the kit. I can't recall the URL, but it is provided on the RRR board under the topic of Atlas kit (I think it was the Scale Hydro Forum). Problem is the last time I checked the web site was down!

Fortunately I saved the pics the first time I went to the site, so I still have them! There are about 12 decent pics that show various stages of build. I can e-mail them to you if provide me with an address. Maybe PM me with an address. It will take me a few days to get around to e-mailing them, so some patience may be required.

One important thing...this kit is made for modest electric power so the hull is built with balsa in various places. One of our club racers used the hull with 12 cells and B/L power and the hull broke apart at the weak basla points after the first race. If you are going to use it with nitro replace all balsa pieces with light ply.

Regards RvE
