Good day folks. I am still fighting with the orginal 18 that came with the boat and about to chuck it. Just can not get this thing fat enough. Even had another carb sent from Aeromarine & still the same thing. Have check motor for leaks & even rtv'd the carb on thinking air going by carb mounting screws with no luck

:-(

I have a OS18 I am thinking on putting it in, but wanted to see if any of you had any ideas. This boat is for my 7 yr old & really want it to stay in the stock RTR class but this motor is just driving me crazy! I have never had such a hard time tuning a motor in all my years of running them.

Please help!

The way I see the rules swapping to an OS18 would put him in the modified class & I really do not want to have to go thru printing the bottom, modding motors & all the other tricks of the trade just to get him wheel time & be competitive as he is a very competitive boy

Thx

Mike

Thx Walt but one thing is thats too much boat for my 7 year old at this time plus I want this boat to stay for RTR

You might put an Aqua 18 in the MM! You can't go wrong at $52 from Tower! I've run an Aqua 18, an OS 18CVR-M and an OS 21RG in my MM. All of them power the MM fine, just faster with more power. I'm not sure what your RTR rules are. Perhaps the Aqua would put you in mod class, in which case I'd go with the more powerful engines. Let me know if you need some pix of the installation.

I know what you're dealing with. We had one donated for our annual Fun Run and I tried my darnedest to get the thing running. The engine is a real piece of work along with the junky radio system. I don't know what size the flex cable is either as I was going to replace it with a Hughey 3/16" and it didn't fit.

If you got one of Remy's water damaged specials then you not out really any money as the hull and radio box are still nice. The hull is basically the same as the .21/.45 Cat's that they sell. Remy originally had a CEN Racing engine and Pro Boat Miss Bud pipe and exhaust in the prototype. The CEN isn't bad but it's a vibrating mill until it gets broken in which is only a couple of tankfuls of fuel.

Maybe in the RTR class in your district they'll give you a break in the rules as it's for a kid and you aren't going to drop some monster motor in it. If it is no longer in production then you may have a case also as I don't think that that situation is covered in the rules.

Thanks Ron

It is the only nitro I have ever had such a darn hard time to get running right.

I said heck on it !! Pulled it outa there & stuck in an OS18

Yeah the radio was scetchy. I gave him a JR XR3 with gobs of crystals..lol

I do wish they had done something different for the header but! we will see

how she runs like this. I am thinking I need to just go out & break it in by myself

I don't think my boy can handle going thru another breakin at this time...lol

Thx fellas for your replies :)

Enjoy taking it out for the break-in as it may be the last time that your son will let you drive it! The little guy is going to be wanting to drive Dad's big gas boats next!

I made the mistake of letting my son take my Lazer 45 out on its maiden voyage and I still haven't driven it yet after it being on the water many times since..........

who makes the mill for the mean machine? I just pick up an other boat that has one in it. but not for long if it has that make problems.
