UGLY - hats off to NHRA and the Team for their safety improvements, could have been much worse.

That is great- a few years ago nobody would have walked away from a crash like that.
Agreed- Garlits did it a bunch of years ago on one of the Swamp Rats. I heard in the interview w/Ant its 5/8th thick lexan and he could hear the gravel from the pit hitting it- but never got hit, not to mention all the other benefits-fire-nitro fumes-head injuries ect ;)

Eddie Hill is one of the fore fathers of completly destroying a dragster and walking away from it.

I think Big started playing with Canopys with Swamp Rat 30, which he flipped over backwards and rebuilt, now in the Smithsonian's basement somewhere. Canopies were on all the succeeding Swamp Rats including the mono wing SR32 and the mono wing SR 34 that last raced in 2003.

Of course all of these cars were built by the old man, (with some help), all were tuned AND wrenched by the old man. And most of them (except SR 34) all caught fire, went throught the traps upside down and backwards, sometimes all three at the same time. :)

You did not ask but this is stuff you should already know by now :)

Now watch Eddie Hill the day he inpired the "Eddie Hill" Rule.
