Hi,

I am in the process of finishing my first 1/8 hydro. I am hoping I can get

some advice on setting it up. Any advice/discussion/ideas on any of the

following would be most appreciated:

Propeller driveshaft angle,

Propeller depth,

C of G position,

Fuel Tank size,

Anything else you think might be important!

TIA

BTW the boat I am building is the 1986 Miss 7-11,

Are you using a flex shaft or a solid shaft?

Prop angle and depth will vary depending on the prop used. Trial and error unfortunately..... Adjustable strut is a good thing!

Fuel tank size - I'd say minimum of 14oz. for a 67 engine running a decent % of nitro.

CG position - try and get it as far forward as you can with your running gear i.e motor etc.

Hope this helps!

Tim.

Hi Tim,

I am running a flex shaft, the engine is an OPS .67 and I probably won't be running high nitro fuel. I think over here its hard to find more than about 25% nitro fuel, so thats what I was planning on using.

The hull is 1070 mm (~ 42 1/8") and the rear of the sponsons are 480 mm (~ 18 7/8") The turn fin is about 75 mm (~ 3") behind the sponson, does this make a difference to the CG?

I realise there will be a fair bit of trial and error involved getting it set up, but thats 1/2 the fun right :). As long as I know I am in the right ballpark to start with thats all I can really ask.

Thanks

Andrew
