I sent an email to Rumrunnerracing and have not been able to get a respose.

I'm thinking about building their new Atlas Van Lines hydo but with a .15 nitro.

I was hoping to get some feedback on this idea and maybe some help with the modifications.

Anyone built this kit yet? What's it like to build and what's your opinion on putting in a .15?

How long ago did you send them the message?

Remember, they just had a little trouble called Charley blow over them. Who knows, they may not even have electric power back on.

Be patient.

it will certainly handle the 1.5 - altho youmay have to mod the cowl - it is ABS

the hull is excellent

So, would the mods consist of making and glassing in engine rails and making tank trays for fuel tanks? Pretty much it right? And cutting the cowl to let the heatsink out.

That sounds about it - and you may want to add a radio box.

but for .15 electric sized hardware is what you will want to use - except maybe the shaft - 3/16"

At 26" the Atlas is a much larger hull than the BBY hydro so stability should not be an issue - setup and trimming will take care of that. I think that a step-down 3/16" to 1/8" stub shaft would be the best way to set up this boat. Based upon the couple of .15-powered hydros I've seen they will probably use an 1/8" prop - but the option to go to 3/16" would be a plus. A lot depends on the .15 you choose - a pull start versus a buggy race engine. 1/8" props vary from the tiny x427 up to the 1735 or more so there are a lot of choices.
