I have heard the AA 45 piston and sleeve can be used in the Mac 45. Does anyone know if this is true, and if so what mods need to be done?

The A/A 45 piston and sleeve fit to the MAC 45 case. The alignment pin in the MAC is slightly larger than the one in the A/A 45, so you have to widen the alignment slot in the top of the A/A 45 sleeve. Some MAC wrist pins are a bit larger.

The ports line up perfectly.
