I have a slightly used prather lap cat 2 and 7.5 K&B and Futaba 2 channel radio.RTR...

The engine is the one with the larger crank and crank bearings(so I have been told) and has the disc style low speed setting with remote needle. It also has the hole for lubricting the top bearing and one on the back of the engine for lubricating the rear bearing and lower unit, servo savers 2 prather props.

IT IS THE 8702 MODEL WITH 17MM CRANK :D :D :D

It works excellent and is stock and has seen notthing higher than 25%nitro.beatings are good and good compresion.

The radio is an older but in really good condition futaba pistol grip with 3 servo's and a small boat attena and will take akaline or rechargables and has a battery level meter.

The boat should really be re-painted it is whit and blue and the white is fading and the clear coat is pealing

form sitting around and age.I repaired one spot where I was hit during a race but it turned out well.

There are a few hairline cracks where the front of the tunnel meets the sponsons but have been repaired with CA and are holding up well and could be repaired better once the boating season is over.

It has a shrpened stainless turn fin as well.Watertight radio box .

It is a really good boat aprox. 14" wide x 33" long(but i would have to measure for sure).

I would like $325.00 u.s. or would trade for for a similar priced sport 40 size hydro.

I you would like pics you can e-mail me at

Thanks

Terry

Hi Terry,

Although it is a nice boat ( I have had a few of them), The hull and radio are'nt highly prized anymore. The Lapcat has been deemed " not competion capable" , althougth I say someone place at a race not long ago with one......... It is a great starter/sport boat.

The radio probably works as good as the day it was new, but most want FM now.......

The motor is what might sell this deal for you. The K&B 7.5 has had a few improvements.........

If it is a model 8700, it's from the mid 70"s and few want to try to compete with it.

if it's a model 8701, your chances are better. some swear by this model motor........

If it's an 8702, lots of people will be talking to you...........

It's difficult to describe how to tell the differance, but a photo will say a lot.

If you can't post a photo here, e-mail me a photo and I will try to help identify what model you have.

Personaly, I like the Lapcat boats. Fast, fun, simple, and dependable....

Bob,

I sent you the pistures less the carb but it is the same as the one on the mecoa site and it has the beefier front houling as well as the large opening in the carb and has the black anodized barrel.

MY friend is using my carb but he is done with it now.

I was told that it had the 17 mm crank but not sure and it only has about 2 gallons of 30% fuel.

It alone lists for $350.00 and this one is as close to new as your gonna find that's actually used.

thanks for your help.

Hi Terry,

From the pictures you sent, it looks like you do indeed have a 17mm crank model 8702.

Put the model number in your ad, it will help. I just sold the same motor in about the same condition on eBay for a little over $200.

It will be better if you have a carb to put on it. motors that are ready to run sell much better. If your buddy still needs one , I have a good used one I can sell you cheap........

The boat looks good too...........

Good luck,

I can confirm, terry does have the 8702 with the updated 17mm crank, bearing, front housing, crankcase and the .234 Con rod.

Me and Terry race against one an other and I have the 8701. BIG difference in speed and response.
