3D printing of Futaba battery compartment cover?

I just pull out my 4PKS and 7PX. They are not the same. Not even close. The 7PX wraps around the sides. The 4PKS is a flat plate style that sits in.

A lot of truth there. I still miss my old Futaba 1024PCM radios. They were bulletproof..... including the battery cover.

Seems like Futaba quality really started to slip with the advent of 2.4 radios .. as well as a lot more radio problems… Sad really..

I've got a mint cover from my back up 4PKS. I wonder if this would be something worth dong in quantity since this is a long known issue and many still run this radio.

3d Printing can be tricky in thin walls and mechanical shapes. My guess is you will be FAR happier with a new cover. If you love the radio and, a new one gets you another 15+ years seems like a good buy!
