Is 8 oz. always enough for heat racing a .21 rigger?

Thanks.
probablt not enough to make it in heat racing unless you go inabout 45 seconds.. my blackbird uses a 10.8 oz and i run nova rossi motors..probably the most efficent motors imo.. and it comes in pretty light, i would atleast run 10 oz .. mac engines seem to use more than others for some reason if that is what you have?

hope this help out.

If you have a choice - make it around 11-12 oz. I would not make it to the chequered if I throw it in at 30 seconds if it only would be 8 oz...

If you are using the Zoom carb, go with the 11-12 oz tank. These carbs allow the engine to burn more fuel.

Good info, thanks.

It is for a JAE21 with a 5-port Novarossi and stock carb.

Yes it is.Go in at 2 mintues or under.Ran 7.27 ounces all last year in a protoype JAE21.Never an issue.

I have a 8.4 oz tank and I never used more than 7.4 oz during any heat race, even if I jumped the start and had to make another lap. I go in at about 2 min also. I do not mill wide open either, only at about 70%. Roadrunner Extreme with NovaRossi. I also have a RR Extreme with a MAC 21 and it also has the same 8.4 oz tank and uses the same amount per run.

The amount of nitro will factor in, the higher the nitro % the higher the fuel consumption will be. 70% nitro will burn more than 50% as the needle must be richer. A 5 port NR with the stock carb, which is very fuel efficient, should be no problem for an 8 oz tank.
