On behalf of the CMBC, we apologize for the amount of time it has taken for us to make this announcement.
The Cincinnati Model Boat Club, in conjunction with the IMPBA, have fixed the dates and location for the race. The new race dates are Friday, September 24 through Sunday, September 26, with open water on Thursday, September 23. The location is Celina, Ohio. Additional details will be
posted in the next few days by way of a completely revised race program guide and registration document, which we will post to the CMBC site (in PDF format). Also, the revised information will be printed in the next IMPBA Roostertail (June issue).
Event registration will again be open upon re posting of the schedule available on the CMBC web site.
We would at this time like to offer a brief explanation of the reasons for the delay and a summary of the efforts we have been making over the past several weeks. The first challenge was that by the time we recognized the need to re-schedule (because of the Cicada emergence during the months of
May / June), there were already many major district races scheduled both by IMPBA and NAMBA, so we had substantial date conflicts to manage. Furthermore, our original race site was not available for September 24-26 (the preferred re-schedule date) due to other events at the facility, so we
then shifted efforts to pursuing a new race site, as well as negotiating with CD's and District Directors to address schedule conflicts at the same time. Up until the past week, we were very close to announcing September 17-19 as the race dates (as we had identified a nice site in Cincinnati),
however we could not resolve schedule conflicts with a few other major events. As a result, we have decided on the date/venue outlined above.
Since we were pursuing many different options at the same time, and things were changing so rapidly, we elected to not post frequent updates or to reply to the various posts (with what would have been an ever-changing story).
We appreciate the patience and support from most of the folks who have commented on this situation, but at the same time, we understand some of the criticism. Now that we have fixed the date, we would appreciate all of your
support to attend the race and spread the word. We still have Zenoah as our major event sponsor, and plan to have the best prizes ever at a Gas Boat race, plus a few new twists to keep things exciting (grudge matches for top
finishers in the main classes, radar speed display, etc.).
