1/4" strut for a Square Shaft setup for a Canard Scale

We used octuras 3/16 struts for our canards back in the 80's 90's. I'm building a new one and going to go to 1/4" square shaft, but having a hard time finding one that isn't setup up for,the traditional stuffing tube going in it. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

could you just cut off the tapered front of the strut and then the tapered ferrel on the cable would fit ok.

We use and I sell square drive cables that are soldered into a Aeromarine 1/4 stepped to 3/16 ferrule. We use this with a Jensen 3/16 strut with bearings and hardened 3/16 stub shaft.
