cowl / receiver battery

I bought a barely used JAE21 with a Novarossi T21-7M and Mac pipe. It didn't came with a cowl. Should I run it with or without cowl for heat racing, as I've seen bought. I was thinking to like to put a CMDI cowl on. What are the pro's/cons, performance wise? What size receiver pack should I...
