Most of the Futaba radios have 100 mw, 1/10 of a watt ! I run minimum 100watt on my ham radios and 5 watts on Handies. But saying that, many years ago, I built a 1/4 watt CW transmitter for 7 mhz and made several contacts over 400 miles.

Mike, I have been using a 4pls and a 4pl for about 6 years now with no range problems. I just felt it was time for an upgrade. I have a good feeling about the 4pm.

All of the Futaba surface radios have that same spec 100m. I was concerned about that too as I was planning on ordering a 4pm. i have it now and we will see.

I have used some of the belts from Mark also. Not sure which are in the boats now , but no problems with any of them.

I am not sure what brand they use, but I have some belts from K&B that seem to last forever.

We had a great time. Low pressure easy going made it nice to socialize with other racers. Retreive boat operation was flawless. Cant remember the drivers name but he did a fantastic job all weekend. And the great food !

Make the stand before you paint or rig the boat. Its easier, I always build my stands as part of the boat build, then its done. Wait and you rush it.
