    Andy Brown contact

Hello to everyone, My time for visiting I/W and other r/c boating forums including facebook has become very limited. I get messages on these sites, but the messages get very delayed responses or overlooked completely, because sometimes I do not visit for several weeks. For much better...

    White Gas in Gas Hydros

I hold the IMPBA LSG36cc Oval record using Coleman in a QuickDraw 30.5cc engine. Back to back test showed no difference in speed. A very small adjustment to the needle valve was required.

    Turn Fin Operation

" I guess the fin is flexing pretty fast causing that look." I think that is correct Stan. We discussed that possibility in the other thread with Ian's turn fin shots a while back. Looks like about 20,000 to 30,000 cycles per minute. I wonder if it matches prop blade beats? Would 2 and 3...

    CMB 27 alpha nitro

CMB 27 on nitro would be great! Glow plug issue would not be an issue if the engine is set up correctly. I have explained to a couple of guys how to do this. Not at all difficult.

Construction details for a reliable high performance connecting rod

The Picco 45 rod has had the best oil hole I have seen. It is situated to "scoop" off the bottom of the case and the inside bushing surface at the hole has a taper groove ground into it to create a peristaltic pumping action.

Construction details for a reliable high performance connecting rod

Great Jim. That is a method of compensation I did not think of. I did think of boring the crankcase to less than 90 degrees between the cylinder and crankshaft. I talked to CMB about doing that in the MAC engines. The rod needles always run on their ends and the rod is forced into the...

    Breaking News! Dead boat penalty?

The reason I brought up this subject is "quality of racing". To have 5 or 6 boats start a heat and 4 or 5 boats finish the heat would be fantastic. There is a thousand reasons why a boat does not finish a heat, but I think our success rate could vastly improve if everyone had a conscious mind...

Construction details for a reliable high performance connecting rod

"There is also a very distinct advantage to machining a slight taper on the crank pin to prevent the connecting rod from backing off." Jim, Do I understand correctly, that the crank pin is a larger diameter at the end then it is where it meets the crank wheel? Thanks for taking the time to...

    Stuck Sponsons on Tubes

Thomas, A 1" O.D. wood dowel with a 17/32" hole bored into it for the brass tube is glued into the foam core. It is sandwiched between the inside sponson plate and an internal (not visible) sponson plate that is similar to the inner plate. So there are a total of 3 sponson plates or formers ...

    Breaking News! Dead boat penalty?

Yes! There is a penalty. The penalty is 169, 225, 300 or even 400 Points! Or worse....your dead boat gets run over. I could expound, but I will leave it there.

    Stuck Sponsons on Tubes

I have been through all of this more than once. We build hundreds of those boats and I fixed several of them. My final best advice - Fix the transom, paint it and go! You won't even have to install the sponson/boom screws. Those sponsons will never move!
