There are 24 Nitro Twins and 4 Gas Twins signed up for the Fall nats.
The IMPBA Internats had about 20 Nitro Twins and most where a different group than what will be at Fall nats.
There is 50 Eastern boats right there.
Have you got 50 Twins in the West that we can race against?
Since one...
Ah yes, I did not mention that they will WRITE YOU a CHECK with the name of your favorite Hobby Supplier on it, if you win, (Fact)
because I know that kind motivation is not needed for you to come out.
A handful of guys from Europe and the Southern Hemisphere will be there for the fun and...
LUCAS facility is a nice place but sadly is in the middle of NOWHERE.
Got to Skip the Electric. They are awesome boats, but just not compatible in head to head racing with IC power.
And very few are set up for oval racing.
Twin Nitro and Twin Gas hydro would be awesome.
But 80% of the Twins...
Hey Carl,
Joe's old Redman was 19 pounds. Kind slow in the turns but smokin' fast down the straights. Joe won lots of races with that boat.
I forgot about that K-90 record. It was in the original Eagle SG 80 boat. That was Feb. 1997 I set the record at 18.204 seconds.
I was the first into...
I think that in time the new generation will get bored with the virtual world and get a craving to actually DO something...like go race something "REAL".
And to them the "real" something is going to be an R/C vehicle!
I get hope for them when I see the number of views on youtube vids that...
On morning of Feb 21, 1998 Joe Ingrao and I arrived at the Huntsville lake. Joe ran first and touched 100 mph on one pass with his CMB 100 powered 45 SG.
I ran three minutes later and made two back to back passes between 101 and 102 setting the D hydro record at 101.626 mph with a CMB 45...
The mufflers are actually very open compared to normal. Even compared to non muffled pipes.
Mufflers do not reduce power if matched to the system correctly.
E and F Hydro SAW of 96 and 95 mph set by Jerry Pettefer in 1995 where Andy Brown Jaguars, complete with full racing turnfin. Picco 67 and 80 power.
Andy Brown boats held the F Hydro SAW records continuously from 1988 (Mongoose/ Joe Ingrao) until 2017 when Martin Truex Jr and Mark Grim improved...
Awesome find Bradley! Thanks for posting! Brings back some memories.
1/4 mile Oval, F Hydro, 18.161 secs., 49.6 mph, John Brown 1988, Rossi 80 powered Mongoose 80. 30 years ago.
Current record - 17.027 secs. 52.9 mph David Hall, MAC 84 powered JAE.
362 boats at the 2018 Fall nats! Over half of that is Nitro boats!
Texas NAMBA nats has almost 500 boats entered.
USA had more entries at the World Champs in Europe than ever before.
Lots of boats being built here at CMDi especially Twins.
New things happening at CMDi.
R/C boating is...
Greg,
The flatter strut on the left will reduce some pressure off the right sponson. If the boat tries to pull right on hard acceleration flatten the struts a bit. May also need to play with the fin AoA. As you go to bigger props you may need a larger/wider rudder to keep it running straight.
The old Twin 90 Eagle SG looks awesome Greg! Yes, between 1 and 2 degrees is what we always used on that boat. I used about about 1/4 degree less angle on the left strut. Better handling.
The Bore and Stroke and rod length of the AA 45 is the same as the MAC 45. Different than the Rossi 45...unless Rossi made a change to their engine that I am not aware of.
