Rudder position in relation to strut in hydros

I have a Backlash and a Slingshot that I am considering trying extended struts and .40 size rudders on. Right now I’m running non-extended Speedmaster struts and .60 size Speedmaster rudders with the shortest brackets ( 1 1/8” maybe) If I go with the extended struts, should the rudder also...

Scratch building a slingshot for cmb 27

I feel, and this is my opinion, that the boat already has some weight up front, especially with a full gas bag. If anything, I might be tempted to move the motor back a little, but then you run into clearance issues with the collet and the stuffing tube. With my zenoah mounted in the place the...

    Props Wanted COCR TH-1 Needed

I’m looking for a TH-1 like the title says. I have a +5 and -5 but the +0 was damaged in a crash this past summer. I have an email in to Dave Pillado but haven’t heard anything back, but I know that once I do it’ll take a while, so I would be happy to buy one off of anyone that has one they...

    Slingshot rear shoe placement

Probably all the more reason to make them removable to try different heights and angles. Seems like the range for height of the rears is 1/8 to 1/4 then. I believe I’m somewhere around 3/16 with an angle around 1.5 degrees.

Thread 'Blazer Marine Slingshot Build!' Blazer Marine Slingshot Build! This is Mario Johnston’s comprehensive thread. It’s 18 pages and covers a lot.

    Slingshot rear shoe placement

+1 on the testing they do. This particular boat was designed by Troy Hammonds and I have had the privilege of watching both the Hammonds and the Blazers endlessly testing their respective designs at our lake. I’ll be like, jeez that thing is unbelievable, and there is always something they...

    Slingshot rear shoe placement

It’s not changing the boat to adjust the rear sponsons. The front sponson angle is adjustable as designed in the kit. Leighton is just talking about being able to change the height and angle of the rears. It’s a matter of preference really. I think it’s a good idea to be honest, I just decided...

    Slingshot rear shoe placement

Not exactly per se. But I was ok with going this route for this particular boat. I followed pretty closely with what Mario did, since this was my first gas rigger. His boat runs really well and I wanted to follow suit. I understand the value of being able to adjust the rears and will likely...

    Slingshot rear shoe placement

I agree with you and I struggled with the decision. But I trusted what was working for others in the club and just glued them on. If I build another, I may try it the other way and play around with positioning.

    Slingshot rear shoe placement

The ride strips are 1/8 on both the rear and the front sponsons.

    Slingshot rear shoe placement

Troy’s numbers are what I used. I installed the strut and the front sponsons and used my workbench that has an mdf top. I made sure I was getting a zero reading on the tabletop first with an angle finder. I then adjusted the strut until an angle finder read zero at about the front radio box...

    My Wife

So sorry to hear about the loss of your wife Rodney! That’s a long time together and once the smoke clears, it will be tough to get used to. But you will, just take it a day at a time that’s all you can do.

Pulling what's left of my hair out

I’ve had trouble with that spot putty and rustoleum primer. I use Rustoleum 2x. I wound up sanding off the primer in those areas. Add spot putty, let dry, sand, and then sit for a couple days. Or you could just use epoxy and micro balloons. This won’t clash with the primer. Thoroughly wipe...
