WELCOME BACK TO THE TRUMP ERA!!!

I don't have an issue being taxed, David. I have an issue being taxed for reasons that are based on greed and pet projects by those that are supposed to be representing me in that government. If you look at President Trumps last term, every time he tried to do anything, the Democrats did...

    Scale cooling ??

"Normally", cutting extra holes that were not on the full sized boat isn't allowed since it isn't scale to the full sized boat. Depending on the boat you're working on, heat normally isn't an issue. A modern turbine, if the intake and rear turbine exhaust are open, gets more than enough air...

Optimal Rudder and Throttle Servo Speeds

Going back to what Wesley said about nerves, I had that issue when I started racing. When I got my 4PLS, I tried to drive with the rudder at full speed, just couldn't do it. I had nothing but problems cutting buoys with that quick response. At the suggestion of another person, I slowed the...

WELCOME BACK TO THE TRUMP ERA!!!

I doubt you will see tariffs on R/C parts. For the most part, there aren't any engines made in the US so I don't think it will be an issue

Transmitter choice I don't know what to do

When Spektrum first came out on the 2.4GHz band, they worked great.......for aircraft. The issue was that a high VHF or UHF signal, which is where the 2.4 band is, are easily reflected by the surface of water. This caused reception issues that lead to boats going out of control and being...

WELCOME BACK TO THE TRUMP ERA!!!

I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!! JD has shown himself to be a smart and capable leader. Since he's prior military, he also knows how to use it. I would have been happy seeing Tulsi on the ticket this time as well. She's smart and has everything that JD has going for him. I'd hate to be the one running...

WELCOME BACK TO THE TRUMP ERA!!!

Kamala Harris has finally addressed her supporters and the country. Here's her speech, if you're interested:

WELCOME BACK TO THE TRUMP ERA!!!

I can agree with some of what you said, but you also have to look at the reasons behind what Trump has said, so far anyway. Trump is after China, plain and simple: China has a history of using cheap to slave labor to make products for foreign companies. That's how manufacturing plants can...

RC / Ukie - Flying Models (all kinds)

Sorry I don't have any pictures. I've been slowly working on a pair of Kadet Jrs. I've been working off the plans from a kit I built back in 1986, with some modifications. One will be a semi-stock tricycle geared build with reduced dihedral while the second will be built with a flat, extended...

WELCOME BACK TO THE TRUMP ERA!!!

The election is over, hopefully ending all of the political ads on TV, radio and online. As predicted on several websites, Vice President Harris won the West Coast & Hawaii, Colorado, New Mexico, Illinois, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and all of New England except Pennsylvania...

    Questionable e-mail I received

I got it too. Just figured it was another one asking for money to help fund the website. I've gotten probably four or five over the past year or two

1994 Hydrofest Smokin' Joe's ML Boatworks build

The general rule of thumb used to be around a pound of weight on the prop. Since your boat has the twin tails and wing, that's almost not possible. Balance it about mid turn fin initially and adjust from there with the battery placement.

1994 Hydrofest Smokin' Joe's ML Boatworks build

I would recommend .125" 6061-T6 for the aluminum. It's an aircraft grade material that is strong enough to handle the load while still being fairly easy to drill and tap. It's actually what is used to make jet aircraft, though the thickness varies on location. As far as needing locknuts, the...

1994 Hydrofest Smokin' Joe's ML Boatworks build

IIRC, the center offset your boat has is only .5 inch so you're only looking at .25 off center for the motor. If you use a flex shaft, you can bring the strut back to center with a couple of gentle bends if so desired. Locating the rudder to the left or right of the prop is really a builder's...

1994 Hydrofest Smokin' Joe's ML Boatworks build

Most boats I've seen are in the 12-14 pound range, though I've seen a few down to around 10. Lightest boat I've ever seen was around 8 pounds. My boat is a little heavier, at 14 pounds. Just to be clear, this covers all 1/8 scale boats, nitro and electric. When it comes to blowing over, ANY...

1994 Hydrofest Smokin' Joe's ML Boatworks build

Generally speaking, you want to keep fiberglass on a wood hull to a minimum. Some joints can benefit from the extra strength but, normally, fiberglass is just unwanted weight. You also have to consider that fiberglass will require filler to hide the fabric. That adds more weight, that is...

    New member and new builder

The MHR actually gives you the size limits you need to be within. Since your boat is hull 8700, you scroll down to that hull. The actual dimensions of the full sized boat are given at the top of the section, such as the length (the column to the far left), which shows the boat being 29 and a...

Welcome to the Forum. Glad to read you've been pleasantly surprised by the level of knowledge. Have you obtained the plan set from David Newton yet? If not, he is a member of the forum. This link will also get you to the correct page of his website so that you can order it...

    Hurricane Milton

I went through "Sandy" in a hotel in Quincy Massachusetts. We got lucky, didn't lose anything, other than some shingles off the hotel roof. We were partially saved by Cape Cod since it blocked most of the storm surge. Anyway, the day after, we drove across the state to Springfield and down...

    Valken hydro

Just checked and Chris is correct, Scott is a member here in the forum. The bad news is he hasn't posted anything since October 31, 2016. I would look at Facebook first as most that have accounts there will be more active than they are here.
