    Futaba 3VCS 2.4 Radio System

The 9650 was not one of the servos I was speaking about above. While it is used for tail rotor on small helis it is not one of the gyro/tail rotor servos that will fry if run above 5 volts.

    Futaba 3VCS 2.4 Radio System

What servo are you using?? The two servos I am referring to as Heli T/R servos are the 9251 and the 9256. They are designed specifically to be used on the tail rotor in conjunction with a Futaba Gyro. The only Futaba digital servo with side ears on it is the 9650, which is far too small for...

    LiPo temps

There you go. Temps will rise less when the packs are warmed up prior to running and 150 is a max, 140 is a better end temperature. Kind of what I have been trying to say all along.

    LiPo temps

Read post #4 where I say that I target 140 as a finish temp, so I do not understand your comment. As to the starting temps I can tell you that starting at 110 does not mean they will be hotter at the end. At least not that I've seen. But the OP has little choice, he is already at 110 ambient...

    LiPo temps

We've found that 110 degrees F is optimal for uses where you plan to hit the packs hard like SAWS and oval racing. For sport running anything above 80 or so would be fine. But there is nothing wrong with 110.

    Futaba 3VCS 2.4 Radio System

Futaba recommends 6 volts since the 2.4 stuff has a higher low voltage threshold. As long as you use a good quality 4-cell pack and don't try to run it down to its last milliamp of capacity you should be OK. However, why in the world would you use a servo specifically designed for extremely...

    LiPo temps

155 would be about as hard as I would push the packs regularly. Every once in a while is not going to be an issue. I shoot for staying under 140 or so if I can for normal running. Maybe prop down a bit to stay a little cooler and you will also see longer run times then too.

    Futaba 3VCS 2.4 Radio System

Just a quick note about the 4.8 volt thing and some Futaba servos. They make that recommendation since they feel that some packs are too hot fresh off a charge. I have never had an issue with any "4.8 volt only" servo running unregulated 5-cell (6 volt) packs. They drop off from the peak very...

    LiPo temps

When running racing we will warm our [packs to 110 as the target pre-run temperature. For sport running not always a big deal. So that starting temperature is not a worry, in fact it is perfect. Post run you would like to see temps at 150 or less, the higher it gets the more likely it is that...

    GAS Thunder boats

Yep, I understand what the Thunderboat class is and plan to run one this year. I think it is a great thing. But it seems some are lamenting the fact that the boats are not as true to scale as they could be. Hopefully if people want true scale large gas hydros they will take your lead up there...

    GAS Thunder boats

I understood what you were looking for Phil. My comments were in response to the several posts that followed yours talking about how "scale" the T-boats are.

    GAS Thunder boats

The point is that nowhere in the rules does it say that these are sca;le boats in any conventional sense. In fact, in the NAMBA rules the word "scale" only appears once and it references the driver figure scale limits. So talking about if it is, or is not, scale misses the point since it is not...

    GAS Thunder boats

Lohring - is this being looked at as a replacement for the current T-Boat rules, or as a separate class? It is interesting that what appears to be one of the most vibrant and growing classes is already being looked at as needing changes after only the first official year. Too bad.

    SV27 Motor won't run!

See my post on RCU. I suspect broken wires, loose connection, or a bad ESC. His ESC worked fine for a couple of years. Suddenly stopped working. Randy, if you have the stock ESC there is something wrong with it if it will not arm using the directions posted above. It may also be your radio set...

Good thing they are not defined as being perfectly to scale!! They're big enough as it is!!

    SV27 Motor won't run!

Make sure the throttle trim is all the way down (full low). Do you hear any beeps at all?? Are you following the arming instructions carefully? http://www.aquacraftmodels.com/techsupport/aqub17tech.html
