1/8th scale hull question

Ok so I have an 87 Cellular One and want to change it to the 88 Miller. So question is what is difference in hull one is 8710 and other is 8700. Would it be a mater of cowling change or something way more complicated and not worth the effort

Depends on how much of a stickler you are. The 8700 is(full sized as built) 6" longer, 6" wider and has a 10" deeper picklefork depth than the 8710. The 8700 has a 15" shorter afterplane meaning the 8710 has smaller sponsons. The tunnel width and hull depth are the same.
With that said, the 8700 had the sponsons changed to Jones types in 1989. This shortened the hull by 10", making it shorter than the 8710 by a few inches but the sponson change added an additional inch to the 8700's width. The picklefork depth was also decreased by 10" by the sponson change, making it still 2" deeper than the 8710. This changed in 1993 when the 8710 had the picklefork depth increased by a full foot and, in doing so, gave the hull a 10" deeper picklefork depth than the 8700.

Does his model boat fit the +or-
Measurements of the Master Hull Roster??
It's obvious the cowling would have to change.
And no one has mentioned that the painted Windshield is not allowed.
 
The original post was "So question is what is difference in hull one is 8710 and other is 8700", so I replied to basically that. I didn't worry about the rest since, as already noted, the cowl has to be changed and it wasn't mentioned if the boat had to be race legal or not. I figured the rest would come out eventually as well
 
Yes I was gonna race I just wasn't sure what the differences were as far as scale my question was answered. I couldn't find much info about the real boat after it was wrecked, ie what did they do rebuild or scrap and start over nut that's conversation for another day so I will race as is and just have fun, thanks for the answers

To be legal to race in the scale class, you would need to have a clear windshield with a visible driver, as stated above by FloridaScaleBoater. I would also check to see if the boat meets the scale hull dimensional limits in the hull roster before making a lot of changes, again as stated by FloridaScaleBoater.
You might also want to contact David Newton, here in the forum, for a color sheet and maybe some pictures of the boat.
