crankcase, crankshaft, & piston fixtures 018.jpg

This fixture, when mounted to a rotary table, allows the finish machining of the inside piston details to size. This includes the upper piston wall, the bosses & the upper piston areas. The piston skirt has already been machined to size as a FIRST STEP as well as a rough size piston OD. This piston OD is machined oversized as well as the crown thickness. It is then parted off from the material bar. The oversized OD dimension of these piston blanks must fit this fixture. After completing the piston bosses, the wrist pin holes are done. The final machining operations are cutting the pistons diameter & tapered top square to the bored wrist pin hole. A final cut is also taken on the piston crown to ensure all outside surfaces of the piston are square to the wrist pin hole!
