Hydro 21 from Japan

This is a Hydro 21 that I got from Japan this summer.!

I contacted four racers in Japan, in order to get more knowleadge about their racing.
One of the guys gave it to me for free, for me to test and understand more about the Japanese style of boats and their set up.
The boat came RTR, but no engine or pipe.
Fantastic, to say the least......we now have weekly contact and I get info from the racing in Japan.

I have used it a lot this summer with two different engines. It is pretty fast and very stable, turn fast and likes rough water.

To be continued....

Jorgen, thanks for posting the Japan hydro. What construction materials are used? What props does the hydro like? Thanks, Richard D

Hello Richard

This is an all wood boat with Divinycell core for the sponsons.

During my testing, it likes similar props that the more common boat likes, BUT it likes less lift and slightly larger diameter.

The long afterplane gives very good stabilty and it is just fantastic i rough water, by far the best I have ever seen.

Yes, the design looks really good. The fin is different to what I am used to and seems to be an even more important factor that it has been on traditional boats for me. I did test 4 new turn fins during the weekend, 3 is in the scrap metal box, but the last one was really promising, more to come out of this.
