1980-81 Miss Circus Circus Canard

The story of this hull goes back to 1978, when Seattle area R/C boater Ed Fisher met Bill Bennett. Fisher joined the new team, with an eye to building a full size verison of his successful 4-point design. The hull was built during the 80 season, which was one of the reasons why the 79 hull did not fair as well as it did the year before. The owners gave all their attention to the new experimental hull while the crew and driver struggled with the primary hull. The hull made its debut in San Diego and was barely able to get on plane. Driver Steve Reynolds, crew chief Jim Harvey and msot of the crew were either fired or quit. The 81 season started with optimism but the hull only qualified for one race (San Diego) and completed one heat (in last place). Rumors persisted that the builders were afraid that the hull would blowover so they built it heavy. A turbine version was 50% completed when the team quit racing. The new unbuilt hull was sold to Steve Woomer, and hung on their shop wall for years.
