Bill Bennett and Bill Pennington purchased the hull (built in 74 as the ValuMart) 3 weeks prior to the final race of the 78 season (San Diego). The new team and rookie drive Steve Reynolds (his official rookie season would be in 79) scored a surprising 3rd place finish.
