I was at a friend's neighbors house one afternoon and he starts showing us his rc car fleet. Sitting in the opposite corner of the room on top of a bookshelf was this sweet looking nitro boat. Had a tuned pipe which I noticed first. Worked out a deal and got the boat for 60 bucks. Had a novarossi. 20 engine on it. Very old transmitter and reciever. Carried the boat to the local hobby shop. Ended up getting new servos, receiver and transmitter, fresh nitro fuel, glow plug, ignitor, and belt starter. Installed new parts to find out the engine has no compression. Ended up sourcing a losi mach 427 engine brand new out of a 1/8 scale buggy from another neighbor. After removing the clutch, ordering a new collet and some machining, I was able to get the flywheel and collet installed on the engine. Being thus engine is air cooled and the old engine was watercooled, I found some aluminum tubing that fit snug between the fins. Had to also replace the stuffing tube and flex shaft as well. Currently running a balanced and sharpened octura x440 propeller. Boat definitely needs some tuning and more pitch on the propeller. It's been a fun pr0ject overall. Definitely would love some tips and pointers as I'm definitely nee and trying to learn the rc boat world. I work in a machine shop and my next order of business for this boat is to make a watercooled head for it.
